Who We Are
Statement of Purpose
The Apostle John tells us, “in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
We are Catholic and other Christian men. Having received and accepted the teachings of Christ handed down through the Apostles and their designees, while following the admonishment of Christ that the Church was built on the rock Peter, definitively not ambiguously such that the gates of hell won’t prevail against her material and spiritual walls even to this day, we can know and then grow in relationship with the same God identified by John through his “Word” which is “Him”, through his teaching that prevails to this day against hell, albeit at times imparted through fallible men. With this affirmation in mind we embrace the Word, our creator to know Him as we are in his image, and are his children if we chose to love him by obeying his Holy Word. We use the ancient Douay-Rheims version of the bible and the teaching of the Apostles.
Not having been called at this time to be a religious, but nevertheless called to an eternal life of sonship in love of God with family and with each other through Christ and his Church, we unite in this fraternal manner with each other as Brothers of the Holy Word to grow in love of Christ, bring others to know Christ and spread His Holy Word. To this end we commit as follows:
1.To know God by learning and obeying his Word through the bible, catechism and dogmatic teaching of his Holy Church. In this way, we develop a daily relationship with God through his Holy Word so that He knows us MT 7: 21-23. We stand ready to impart the faith to others as called for by the Holy Spirit. We help each other grow in this way and help others know the Word and love of God using the bible, catechism, saints and properly sanctioned materials of the Catholic Church. In this way we are prepared for a loving relationship with God based on truth. We engage in spiritual warfare proper to our state as laity. In addition to the Mother of God, we seek and follow teachings of canonized saint(s) to better know the Word, relying on them as our spiritual mentors, instructor, patron and intercessors.
2. To prayerfully grow and participate in all sacraments of the Catholic Church as guided by the Holy Spirit and as set forth by her. In this way we grow in unity with our brothers and sisters and properly participate under the spiritual leadership and protection of the Church and others in authority over laity helping enshrine us with humility and deference to God and his will. We work out our salvation with “fear and trembling” and proceed in such expediency as the Holy Spirit dictates, with the help of our brothers and others, and with the superabundant support of the sacraments, doing so as soon as we can spiritually accept and love them in our lives. We adore God in the Eucharist when we reasonably can and support our parishes.
3. We engage in spiritual warfare proper to our state, under the confines of our limited authority in life including as husbands, fathers, neighbors and laymen. As we grow in participation in sacraments we accept our duty to support and humbly engage in the warfare led by both the Mother of God, who’s heel crushes the head of Satan, and the Holy Church. As men we proclaim her blessed as representatives and spokespersons for our generation and for our part as stated by her in the bible that “ all generations will call me blessed.” Collectively we take action as lead by Mother who’s “soul magnifies the Lord” to act in a manner to magnify Christ’s Holy Word in today’s world under proper subjugation and guidance of the authority of the Church and her religious. We come to know her as our spiritual Mother and primary guide to her son, Jesus Christ, who we desire to approach as simple children.
4. We maintain an outward sign of our faith in our daily activities recognizable by others. Our primary charism will be loving the Holy Word and helping others to know Christ by our word and deed yet we label ourselves with a mark of our visible faith by, perhaps: i) crucifix. ii) medallion of the blessed Mother iii) ring or, iv) bracelet. We do this as a reminder that Christ said if you deny me here I will deny you before my Father in heaven and so as to unambiguously not deny Christ before others.
6. We have a special care for the poor and creation. as modeled by the Church, spoken by the Popes and Saints. We endeavor to help materially alleviate the suffering of the poor working and living in waste dumps. We learn about them personally when we can and help to change generational poverty in waste dumps. We are also known for our stewardship of God’s creatures and creation including harmonious economic sustainability.
Members are deemed Novices-Philia until they participate in the full sacraments of the Church, taking the reasonable amount of time they need. Upon entering full communion with the Church, they are deemed and achieve the title of Servant-Agape.
